DC Shoes is an American company that specializes in footwear for extreme sports, skateboarding and snowboarding. The company was founded in 1993 by Ken Block and Damon Way, and is based in Vista, California. Globe International was established in the 1980s, born out of Hardcore Enterprises an Australia-based company specializing in products that appealed to the skateboard and youth culture markets. Peter and Stephen Hill, along with brother and current Globe International CEO Matt Hill, founded Hardcore in 1984 and it rapidly expanded to become one of the world's largest skateboard distribution companies. At the time, the Hills were professional skateboarders who were unsatisfied with the quality skate products they needed, so they went into business to import US skate products to Australia. The Hills continued to promote skateboarding and wrote two successful books on the subject and became prolific skate film producers. Through constant promotions, tours, contests, video and magazine advertising, Hardcore became a driving force behind the skateboarding explosion during the mid 80's in Australia and New Zealand. Globe sponsor one of the few men to master the double backflip- none other then Cam Sincs Sinclair, as well as new FMX wizard, Jayden Jayo Archer. At 15, Jayo has become the youngest rider in the world to backflip 75ft, he’s got flip combos down and has been landing double flips into the pit and FMX isn’t even his focus. He’s been racing 250cc and is currently sitting 2nd in the championships. MoreCore certainly heart Globe!

Supercross is BACK!

After the best season (of all time), ended last year, the 2012 season was more anticipated than any other season before it! 2012 has big shoes to fill and it got under way last weekend at Anaheim. In short, it was a night that saw Ryan Villopoto dominate the supercross class. Chad Reed had a solid ride claiming 2nd with Ryan Dungey claiming KTM's first Ever podium on the 3rd spot! A lot of eyes were on James Stewart as it was his first race with JGR. Stewart seemed out of sorts in the main event, struggling to generate the speed he is known for. Stewart was on the pace during his heat race but this track proved to be very difficult to pass on, and with his poor start, it seemed a struggle for him. Cole Seely rode his boots off in the main for the lites and picked up the number one spot for the opener. We are so stoked for Cole, and we hope he can maintain this form. Any way, enough blabbering from us...here are some of the highlights!

Until then folks, keep it pinned!

Formula 1 2011.... YAWNFEST?

As the curtain closes on the 2011 season, we sit here pondering....did Vettel's dominance turn the spectacle into a yawnfest?

A large majority of F1's audience would probably agree that it did, but the MoreCore crew have had a look at it all, and have come to the conclusion that is was a pretty interesting season. These are our top 3 reasons why:

1- PIRELLI'S NEW TYRES

Pirelli's reintroduction to F1 in 2011 was a massive task for the tyre company to take on. They had little over 6 months to develop a tyre and in F1, 6 months is no time at all! The FIA stipulated that they wanted a tyre that would grain alot quicker than the Bridgestone tyres before them. Pirelli had their work cut out for them and exceeded expectations. The new tyres left everyone one a level playing field and the first half of the season proved extraordinary with different statagies used according to different teams expectations of the tyres. A "buzz- word" used frequently this season with regards to the tyres was "the cliff". This term was used when the tyres would lose performance, but at a rapid rate. This left very little room for error and caught many drivers out. The BBC'S Martin Brundle explains:

2. "That" race....!

I am pretty sure  many would agree that this was up there with one of the best races of all time! A very very wet Canadian Gran Prix resulted in the least likely to happen....happening! Jenson Button, who had the worst starts imaginable, ended up last after contact with Fernando Alonso, resulting in a flat tyre and a broken front wing, eventually tearing through the field to make a last lap pass on Vettel for the win. Truly outstanding! This race also reinforced Michael Schumacher as a force to be reckoned with. Give the man a good car next year, and we'll see him back on the podium! Here are some brief highlights of that race, with a fitting tune.

3. The MASSA v HAMILTON saga!

After monitoring this intriguing battle all season, one could compare it to the Senna- Prost days. RUTHLESS would be a great word to describe it. Hamilton has made it very clear that his style and attitude towards racing is what Senna's used to be.."race to win, or don't race at all". A controversial statement that many consider to be reckless but here at the MoreCore HQ, we would have to agree. Lewis has had alot to answer for with regards to his driving style but we feel that if drivers didnt drive to win, F1 would lose its integrity. Senna hit the nail on the head by quoting " By being a racing driver you are under risk all the time. By being a racing driver means you are racing with other people. And if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver because we are competing, competing to win" Well said sir!

Lewis, did at times get things wrong, but still gave us an entertaining season squabbling with Massa. A troubled season for Lewis, lets see if he can bounce back in 2012.

So, all in all it was a great season. Despite the Vettle dominance, one has to admire his skill and swagger! Lets hope that the exclusion of the rear blown diffusers will level Red Bull's dominance. As for the bottom three teams, they will be into their 3rd season and there will be no where to hide! Bring on 2012!

Until next time folks! Keep that throttle pinned.

The MoreCore crew.

Doing it for the SENORITAS!

With the world of moto being dominated by dudes, talents such as these two fine ladies is hard to ignore!
Its a tough industry and it is dog eat dog out there in the world of racing, which makes the stories of these two even more impressive! Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for DANICA PATRICK and ASHLEY FIOLEK!

 Ashley

Ashley Fiolek is a fine lass who knows how to pin it on a dirtbike. Ashley's achievements to date include 2008 AMA Motorcross womens champion, 2009 X-Games gold medalist for womens Moto-X,  2009 WMX Champion and most recently is 2011 AMA  Motorcross womens champion. One hell of a list, not forgetting that Ashley is only 21!

One of Ashley's most unique characteristics in that she is infact deaf. In a sport where sound is important, Ashely has excelled and doesn't consider her condition as a disability. Ashley is a true ambassador to our industry, and we are sure she will be encourage many more girls to get muddy and smelling of 2-stroke!

Danica

Not many people would argue against Danica being a superstar in her sport, but what many people don't realise is that Danica competes against men! Motorsports at that level hasn't reached a point where women compete in their own series, so it was all or nothing for Danica. She has to muscle it up with the dudes, a daunting prospect in itself... RESPECT!

To date, Danica is the only women to win in the Indycar Series and holds the highest finish by a women at the famous Indy500 with an impressive 3rd place! Danica is also involved in Nascar. We would love to see Danica dabble in F1. She's had links to the formula, but just hasnt quiet had the opportunity yet, but who knows...anythhing can happen in the moto world!

Pretty inspirational stuff! These women really put things into perspective and make you realise that if you want something bad enough....go and get it, no matter how dire you think your situation is!

Kudos to these fine athletes!

Anyway, enough of this soppy stuff......we are off to practice our backflips!

Love always!

What a year for the ASTAR!

We like to see the brands we stock excel, and my oh my, how well these guys have done this year. One of our good friends from Alpinestars was happy enough to write about their success this year. Enjoy the read.

Hello

And what a year it has been for Alpinestars. F1 World Champ, AMA Supercross Champ, AMA Moto X Champ, MotoGP World Champ, World Superbikes Champ, and that is just to name a few. With this comes worldwide mass exposure. Alpinestars as a brand has been going for the last 50 years and has enjoyed much success in various regions of motorsports, but it is amazing to see the amount of success we are now having at the same time across a much wider variety of these sports. It has allowed us to create a lifestyle apparel range for the commercial market and with this mass exposure our logo goes from strength to strength. So, as I haven’t written in a while, let me fill you in!

MOTOGP
Repsol Honda's Casey Stoner barely beat Yamaha's Ben Spies to the finish line with a full-on drag race to the checkers at the dreary and rainy Valencia Grand Prix. Stoner took off right from the start of the 26-lap season finale right from the out of the lights and took off like a scalded cat, racing away, his lead at one point over ten seconds. But as the drizzle turned to rain late in the race, and teams readied the rain motorcycles on pit lane, Repsol Honda's Andrea Dovizioso and Spies worked away at digging into Stoner's lead. Spies passed Dovi for second early on the 26th lap and took the lead when Stoner caught a false neutral and ran wide in the right hand turn six also on lap 28. For the final two laps the Texan controlled the pace, until the very end. Stoner got a much better drive out of the final turn 14 left-hander and drove past Spies to win his tenth race of the year by a scant.015 sec. "The conditions have just been really difficult to sort of deal with and the race was no different," Stoner, the 2011 MotoGP World Champion, said. "We started the race - it was raining the whole race, just little bits and pieces. It would change what corner it was and how hard it was lap by lap, so you didn't really know how hard to go into each corner as you were approaching. But we built up a really good lead, really comfortable, and every time I felt there was a bit too much rain, I'd back off, wait for the rain to sort of subside, they'd catch me a bit and I'd be able to increase the lead again. And I felt pretty good out there; the bike, everything was working well. Then it got to the point where it just started raining heavier and heavier and I went into a couple corners, the rear come around on me and I just really wasn't too keen on pushing any harder than what I was. And I thought, at least when they catch up, and if somebody does come past, I'll keep going at what I'm comfortable with. When somebody comes past I'll be able to sort of see then where the limits are and if they're getting a bit slippery or not. Ben (Spies) came past after I made a small mistake and hit neutral. He was looking great, to be honest. He was riding the corners really nice smooth. I was able to catch him a little bit on the brakes and out of acceleration points in a couple of areas. Other than that, he was just riding the track really nice, really smooth and I didn't think I was going to get a chance to do anything and I wasn't really willing to take any risks. And I suppose the last half of the last lap I thought, ‘This is it. This is the last lap of the year for us,' and I just decided to go for it and take some risks that I haven't taken all season. It came out very good for us. We were able to catch Ben going right into the last turn. Came out and got a fantastic drive. I don't think I think could've got any better run going into that last straight and managed just to pip him on the line. So sorry to Ben, but yeah we're very happy to end the season like this." NASCAR

While only .526-miles in length – complete with 12-degree banks – Martinsville Speedway in Virginia may be the smallest track on in the NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule, but it’s history is larger than life. Created in 1947 by H. Clay Earles, Martinsville hosted its first true NACAR race on July 4, 1948, the track knows as the “paperclip” in the only track to have been on NASCAR’s premier schedule since 1948. Martinsville, yet again, lived up to its storied history and heritage on Sunday as in a late lap showdown, Tony Stewart gingerly motored around Jimmie Johnson on a restart with three laps left in Sunday's Tums Fast Relief 500. He then held off the reigning Sprint Cup Champion Johnson's charge for victory on the white flag lap to win. The victory was Stewart's third in the Chase for the Sprint Cup and vaulted him into second place in the standings, eight points behind leader Carl Edwards. Stewart won for the 42nd time in his career. "He'd better be worried," Stewart said of Edwards after the race, "that's all I can say. He's not going to have an easy three weeks." Amazingly, after twice being lapped on the race track, Edwards salvaged a decent run and retained his lead in the Chase standings with a ninth-place finish, as his two closest pursuers entering the race, Matt Kenseth and Brad Keselowski, both experienced late trouble and finished 31st and 17th, respectively. Jeff Gordon ran third, followed by Kevin Harvick, who climbed to third in the standings, 21 points behind Edwards. Denny Hamlin came home fifth, with Jeff Burton sixth and Dale Earnhardt Jr. seventh. After a wild first half of the race had settled into a 97-lap green-flag run after the midpoint, Hamlin squeezed past Gordon on Lap 320 and stayed out front in traffic until Burton's spin caused the 10th caution of the race. That started a spate of cautions that gave Harvick and Stewart a chance to move to the front with two-tire calls -- and allowed Edwards to return to the lead lap under the 12th caution with a free pass for the highest-scored car one lap down.
TRUCKING

“Showtime” leads the PRO 2 Unlimited class wire-to-wire on Saturday, topping Rob MacCachren and Brian Deegan for his first win of the 2011 season! The world’s greatest Monster Energy Supercross racer, Jeremy “Showtime” McGrath, put his season’s best run together on the Lucas Oil Off-Road Series (LOORS) on Saturday, winning the PRO 2 Unlimited class over Rob MacCachren and Brian Deegan – McGrath’s first win of the 2011 LOORS season. McGrath, running the No. 2 Monster Energy/ReadyLift/Ford, pulled a great start and got out to the lead early on the opening lap – with both Deegan and MacCachren in hot pursuit. Then following a crash and red flag on lap three, McGrath led the field into the mandatory competition yellow. The second half of the race would be much of the same as McGrath ran a fast yet steady pace, forcing those behind him to battle feverously to make up ground. And while MacCachren was able to get past Deegan, a near-crash in pursuit of McGrath late in the contest would force MacCachren to back ‘er down as McGrath took the checkers. With the win and Greg Adler’s 10th place finish, McGrath moved into 4th place overall in the PRO 2 Unlimited class standings after Saturday. Thats all for now folks... Have a great weekend!

The Summer of Core!

As winter sets in like Casey Stoner's lap times, here at MoreCore HQ, we have been looking back at a great summer of racing that we were lucky enough to be involved in. MotoGP and World Superbikes treated us very well, as we got paddock passes to catch all the action. This weekend will see the curtain fall on a season dominated by the number 27 in MotoGP, but with the accident involving Marco Simoncelli a few weeks ago, Im sure all the riders will be looking forward to the finale and a final send off for Supersic. So then...from the brand new pit lane at Silverstone, to the salad bar at the Alpinestars hospitality suite, here is a little glimpse of what we got up to.

Walking the grid!

Formula 1 fans have become accustomed to a ritual, that could be argued, is as anticipated as the race itself...... this rutual is the "INFAMOUS Martin Brundle gridwalk"

Brundle has been around in F1 for many a year and it all started in 1984 as a racer,  racing for teams like Mclaren, Jordan, Williams and Tyrrell. Speculation and rumors cropped up as Brundle was offered the role as a commentator for the 2011 that this would be the death of the grid walk , or even worse.... doing the grid walk with someone else at the helm. Thankfully, this never happened and Brundle is still fighting his nemisis Tanya Bauer for grid supremacy.

What makes Brundle's grid walk a classic watch, is his ability to do his job without any shame, even if this means shoulder barging women, children and/or Nicole Scherzinger out of his way to get the top spot for an interview!

Here at MoreCore, we frikken love the grid walk, and here are some of our favourite moments! ENJOY!
